School Picnic at Eastern Beach

Today Panmure Bridge School headed to Eastern Beach for a whole school picnic.  Even though the weather wasn't very nice, we had lots of fun hunting for beach treasures, swimming, climbing trees and playing games.  Check out our photos to see what we got up to.

Keeping Clever - Basic Facts

This week in maths we have been setting ourselves up for success by reflecting on our basic facts learning.  Some of us are working on fast recall of addition and subtraction basic facts (without using our fingers to count!) and some learning heroes are focusing on multiplication and division basic facts.  Today Miss Thomas shared some of her fun basic facts games with us.  We had to read the instructions and work out how to play each game so we will be able to use them independently when they are in our maths group Keeping Clever boxes.  We had lots of fun!

The Snagglegrollop

What is a Snagglegrollop?  Room 5 have been busy making predictions (making a good guess using clues) about what they think a Snagglegrollop is.  Here are some of our ideas.

Ana - one eye and a long body; eats rats; lives underground in a hole
Calvin - sharp teeth; six legs and three heads
June - nice and kind animal; only 10cm long; lives underground in the forest
Gozan - eight legs and seven eyes; lives in the water; likes to eat humans; size of a whale
Halaiano - humungous - the size of King Kong; lives in a cave; four legs; walks like a spider
Harlem - two long tails; black hairy body; sharp teeth
Reon - eats humans; scaly skin; sounds like King Kong; tall as a 2 storey building
Harry - size of a giant; stronger than the Great Wall of China; whoever looks in to its eyes will turn to stone
Nazella - lives in Africa; loves to eat mice; brown, orange, pink and purple fur
Inotia - cleft chin; big ears; fuzzy tan brown hair
Calvin - three heads; sharp teeth; as long as a bus; six legs
Zeba - never brushes his teeth so he has stinky breath; long tongue; only eats purple lollies
Javeylor - lives in the forest; likes to scare people with its evil eyes
Oh Hsen - two heads and three tails; sharp spikes on the top; lives underground; eats spiders
Mya - half snake and half human; lives in a cave; very very evil; eats meat and fat children
Inotia - eats meat and children; stinky breath; very large ears; lives in a cave; half giant and half vampire
Jessie-Lee - black fur; eats flies; makes a web; lives in the forest
Sajiha - huge, scary animal; lives in forests and jungles; eats anything that gets in his way; smells like rotten fish
Juanita - looks like a snake; mean and grumpy; can eat kids
Gozan - lives in the water; eight eyes and eight legs; looks like a turtle
Thomas - eats every human in sight; 10cm tall; screams like a banshee

I wonder if any of our predictions will be correct?  Check back soon to see what we found out when Miss Thomas read us the story...

Class dojo - Week 1

Great to see so many Room 5 students on task and working hard this week.  Keep up the great work!

Room 5 Class Treaty

In Room 5, we used all our ideas from our brainstorming activities to write our class treaty.  These are the things we have agreed to do so we can have a successful year.
Do you think Room 5 has what it takes to be learning heroes?  Keep reading our blog to find out about our learning success.

Be a Learning Hero

This week, we have been talking about different ways that we can be a Learning Hero.  We brainstormed lots of interesting words about what we think we need to be doing to be Room 5 Learning Heroes.  Check out our amazing display!  Miss Thomas was impressed that we could think of so many important ideas.

What qualities do you think a Learning Hero needs?  Can you think of any more words we could add to our display?

Room 5 Rocks!

We have had a great first week at school and we are already on the path to success as Learning Heroes.  Please stop by regularly to see what we have been up to.  We will be sharing our learning on this blog (our shared class blog) and our individual blogs (you can find links to these on the right side of the page).  Please leave us a comment, we love getting feedback on our learning.

Namebows

Check out our beautiful namebows!

We had to think of a word to describe ourselves for each letter in our first name, then we followed the instructions Miss Thomas gave us to create our own namebows.  You can visit our individual blogs to read more about each students namebow and some of the words they chose.
