Photos of our Area and Perimeter Animals

Here are our finished area and perimeter animals.  Some of us were super clever and we designed animals that could stand or sit up.  Please leave us a comment, we are really proud of our work!

Area and Perimeter Animals

In maths, we have been designing animals and working out their perimeter and area. We have designed our animals on maths paper then we are going to cut them out and try to make them stand up. You can visit our blogs to see more of our designs and what we have learned about perimeter and area. Here are a few photos showing some of our designs.  Can you work out what animal they are?

Learning about 3D shapes

In maths we have been learning about 3D shapes.  We were given a mystery net and we had to turn it into a 3D shape, work out what it was called then make a poster about it.  Here are some photos of us working collaboratively to construct our shapes and our finished posters.

Cubes

In maths we have been learning about 3D shapes.  We decorated cube nets then folded and glued them to create cubes.  It was interesting to see what happened to our patterns.

Our Film Festival Movie: How to Save the World Before Breakfast

Film Festival Room 5 PBS from Ruth Thomas on Vimeo.

Our film was inspired by our Term 2 Inquiry around sustainability.  We realised that there are so many little things that we can do to help look after our planet and if everybody made just a few little changes overall it would make a BIG difference.  What changes can you make in your everyday life to help our planet?  How could you reduce the rubbish in your lunchbox?  Could you walk to school instead of someone dropping you off in a car?  Could you encourage your family to use reuseable supermarket bags instead of lots of plastic bags?  How can YOU save the world before breakfast?

Sumdog Success for Sajiha!

This is Sajiha's blogpost about her Sumdog results in the latest competition.  She has won some very cool outfits this year.

I have come 4th in the Sumdog Competition in Auckland. Sumdog is a free learning game. The competition had started yesterday and I had to answer 1000 questions in a week. My score was 912 out of 1000. I am very proud of my score even though I had a much higher score in the last competition. In each Sumdog competition, each student that takes part in the competition gets a reward chosen from Sumdog. In this competition, each student gets free clothes for their character. I reccomend Sumdog to every student because it has helped me a lot with my maths and I'm sure it'll help you too! Here are a few clothes that I have won:
